DPS Operators
95 Posts
As the news article says, we're looking for people to apply to become operators of the DPS Channels. We'd like to know a few things.

To apply, copy, paste and complete the template below into a reply.

Ingame @Handle:

What time zone do you cover:

How long have you been a DPS Member:

What DPS channels are you currently part of:

What can you bring to the role:

How Many hours a week do you play:

We want a diverse community, so if you're an expert at torps? let us know. Don't fly a scimmy? Aren't a tac captain? It doesn't matter, we want people are interested in maximising their potential, so tell us why you're unique.

What time zone do you cover: CET (Germany)

How long have you been a DPS Member: Think about 6 month's in 30K but not absolutely sure. Bit longer in 10K, but didn't participate there for too long.

What channels are you currently part of: No other locked channels: NoP, PETSF, P1 and fleet channels.

What can you bring to the role: An ability to notice a loaded question when I see it? Ha, I dunno: I see it as a game 1st and foremost, so guess not I'm not the best person in some ways; I don't think I could ever tell someone to stop flying a star cruiser with torps if that's what they want, and that's what they're working on: I would tell people what I THOUGHT they were going awry with, though. A decent in-betweener? Some people want to play a certain style and want to be able to do the best at that style: blimey, my main's an Eng in a tac Vesta, and I rarely fly my alts. Doesn't mean you can't push the envelope you've given yourself.

How Many hours a week do you play: Depressingly enough, weekdays about 3 or 4 hours a day, 9 to 5 usually (not been playing that amount since the monumental amount of lag touched down.)

What time zone do you cover: EST - though my normal online times EST would be ~10am-4am, give or take.

How long have you been a DPS Member: Somewhere between 8 months and a year

What channels are you currently part of: DPS-Public, 10k, 30k, 50k, and 75k

What can you bring to the role: I'm incredibly good with game knowledge. I'm also the DPS-Channel's highest parsing tank (and hold the all-time engineering record), so I know more than simply how to build for dps, while still knowing how to build for DPS. I have a wide variety of captains, but primarily fly a rom engineer and his Scimitar/Sheshar, both monster tanks. I'm also very well known on reddit sto and stobuilds, and have a presence on the forums, and can help out in both of those places as well to both help people and the channel's reputation.

How Many hours a week do you play: Well, since the lag appears to be mostly gone, I'm going back to my 20-40+ hours in-game.
CLR—Infected Space[2:30]— Dmg(DPS) —Vel 11,208,739(74,725) - No recluses, no healers, just me tanking.

The game's best wiki.

Game's highest dps tank and all-time engineering dps record.

What time zone do you cover: EST time zone, am usually most active 8PM - 2AM but have been known to binge

How long have you been a DPS Member: A year and a half, at least according to the age of my pre-DR S9 parse

What DPS channels are you currently part of: 10k, 30k, 50k, 75k, DPS-G-200, DPS-G-400

What can you bring to the role: Been here since beta with long hiatuses when content was running low. Well versed in PvE (both space and ground) and PvP. Fairly good chance I'll be able to link any epic rep item in question, and always open to new build ideas or facts that put into question old ones as long as proper data is provided. Best suited for questions about Fed and Escort based gameplay, but I've tried it all. Anyway if help is needed, always happy to pitch in.

How Many hours a week do you play: Too many

What time zone do you cover: Italian Time (UTC+1/CET), usually from afternoon to late night (4.00pm to 2.00am, with pauses of course :P)

How long have you been a DPS Member: Since the 2013, i guess i was one of the early channels' supporter at that time. I had the honour to be one of the regular "Prime" guys before DR release too.

What DPS channels are you currently part of: Currently speaking, 10k, 30k, 50k, g200 and g400 (plus some others related)

What can you bring to the role: A lot of experience in game mechanics granted by a long presence in the game from almost the beginning. I always did both PvE and PvP at good levels, with a fleet always in good mood on improving itself, so i know well and more about how to build a ship depending on the scenario, the keybinding, the skill tree making etc. I've multiple toons, done in the past to cover almost all the combinations of races and careers (when STO was more alt-friendly), so i've a large knowledge not only tac wide, but even for eng and sci. I'm also an high rank officer in my fleet, so i use to help and handle new players and group of fleeties regularly during the days. The fleet activity taught me how to properly moderate other people in-game and on the forums.
I always loved helping people and my attitude is to be very polite, with anyone, even with trolls, that i ban with pleasure when they are out of place/context. I'm also regularly active on the official forum and i follow all the places related to STO on the web, like reddit, twitter and so on.

How Many hours a week do you play: I can safely say almost 50h/week, even more when in vacation!

ps: my only problem is the lack of a good experience in spoken english and listening, so if you need me on your ts for a meeting or other moderators stuff, i will not able to understand well what you say to me lol

How long have you been a DPS Member: a while now, say year, year and a half?

What DPS channels are you currently part of: 10k / 30k / 50k / 75k / DPS-G-200 / DPS-G-400

What can you bring to the role: I currently am fleet manager in 3 fleets (Shadowbroker, House of Shadowbroker, Shadow Guard Elite) and Admin the ShadowbrokerChat cross channel along with being an operator in Subcomms. I try to be as inclusive and encouraging as possible, both in my fleet and the dps channels. My biggest kick lately has been getting the various members of my fleet into the dps and ground touring channels, and Shadowbroker prides itself on helping people with builds and boosting their dps. I use my fleet(s) and the several hundred members as conduits for growing the other communities that I am apart of, with the DPS community being a primary community. All of this is to say I interact with a plethora of members across several communities.

I have a strong knowledge of builds for various play styles, ships, and career tracks, but do not to profess to be an expert in anything. While other players manage a bunch of toons I only have 4, and this allows me the freedom to help and manage the communities I'm apart of while still accomplishing my in game goals. I have no problem admitting when I am wrong and am wrong from time to time. I will frequently bring experts in particular play styles into ShadowbrokerChat and hold impromptu workshops and encourage those experts to stay apart of the channel and would encourage them to do the same thing in the dps channels. I'm good about bookmarking resources that will help new players and am quick to point them in the right direction for advice if I can't help them.

Above all I don't DPS shame and encourage a wide variety of builds in the channels, regardless of their motives or goals. 30k cannon boats can be just as fun as 50k scimitars, and torp boats impress me at any level. If I'm an admin I'll be fair and quick to admit when I am wrong, and I'll be good about getting invites out in the various channels.

How long have you been a DPS Member: > 1 year

What DPS channels are you currently part of: Prime, 10k, 30k, 50k, DPS-G 200

What can you bring to the role: I've learned how to min/max from watching Ryan's Youtube videos and picking up tips from the various dps channels. I've been passing on what I've learned to others as a form of appreciation. I would like to continue that as a channel admin as well as help out with invites and theory testing. I also have access to tribble, so I can also help test via the tribble server. I'm not big on cookie cutter builds, I'm more into letting someone fly what they like say torpedoes and finding ways to enhance their builds instead of giving them the standard "switch from torps to beams and go BFAW and APO" standard reply. I do own a Rom/Tact/Scimi, but find I have more fun flying my Sci/Sci with torps and exotic damage.

How Many hours a week do you play: 6 - 20 hrs a week.

What can you bring to the role: This is the reason why i apply, i didnt want to first or even didnt know about this, few persons ive coached up, made me do this and now i actually very much would love to.

I enjoy very much learning the game mechanics, new and old, how everything works together with old and new stuff and what it brings to the player. Same goes with tactics for STF's Missions, anything.. i love this game.

The thing about me is, i really , really enjoy helping other people out with the knowledge i absorb, when i meet a "newbie" player who wants to get better, i invite that person to my suliban cell ship, our voice coms, start crafting him stuff, coach him on the techniques, let him know where to get what and how that improves his gameplay, i go over all the stuff for hours, and do the possible missions with him to get what he needs. Only reason for this is that i get another friend ingame, who teams up with ppl and while enjoys this game and spreads the knowledge forward. when ive used hours of my time to help him out..

My goal is to spread the enjoyment part of this game - Do more dps and enjoy the game, when you know how to improve yourself and not hit your head to the wall all the time when you just dont know what to do and when asking help, other players call you noob instead of using a few minutes of their time, and ditch you out of stf's when you do a mistake, that you would had critically need to make your toon / ship better to properly play and learn the harder content. I hate that, im the opposite.

everyday i play, i invite people to join me on advanced runs for instance, from public dps channel to gain more marks to improve themselves faster and on the run teach them what to do where and learn the tactics properly, that they can enjoy the content once they break the 10k. 30k , 50k barrier.. Most of time when all that is done what ive written above, the person is real happy with the new knowledge and help he has received over the hours / runs and he doesnt become that person who ditches people out instead of helping em, instead of that, spreading the help that he has received.

I want to bring that into the dps community - I want people to help each other , exspecially the newcomers who really have no clue how to advance and would really need help. Along with that - ill bring my sick sense of humour, unlimited amount of nerves and ability to adapt and learn from everything i encounter or do wrong, and admit it.

as edit: I fly Fed, Klink, Rom ships of all kinds.. and id really like to say i know all kinds of set ups and settings for tac / sci / eng for em ships.. but there is always new things to learn :)

While I am not formally applying, I'd like to offer assistance to whomever will be administering the 10K channel as far as getting them up to speed with protocol and build advice (especially non-energy based build advice).
Of course, I will direct them to specialists based on their play style and DPS goals.

Thank you.

What can you bring to the role: My main Prylar is an Fed Engineer, and part of the REDitALERT fleet. I fly mostly 30-50k tanks at the moment which can take upto 2mil dmg in an ISA pug. Though I like to fly all ship types from escorts and carriers to heal boats. With my JHDC I have hit 65k, which for an Engi is the best i've seen. I use the channels as my primary group forming source, I following the ingame meta via Reddit and the forums/website on a daily basis, looking for that next thing to take me closer to 75k. I am interested in ship building and help out in 10k with questions where I can. I have learnt a lot for the likes of Vel, Ryan, Sarcasm & Felisean etc and would be happy to spend time helping others. My in game knowledge is as good as any, being an Engineer has forced me to push harder than most. I play space and ground PVE content helping to form tours and single missions. Would be an honor to serve o7

What time zone do you cover: EST, Playtime is often from 6PM to 11Pm or 12Am Monday thru Friday and most the day Saturday

How long have you been a DPS Member: Little over a year or so.

What DPS channels are you currently part of: 10k, 30k, 50k, 75k

What can you bring to the role: One of the things I am working on is creating a show that every Tuesday and Thursday and Saturdays at 9PM EST going through players videos and reviewing with them to find ways to help them improve their piloting and techniques. And helping people increase their DPS when they feel that they are struggling to hit that next tier, like going from 10k to 30k for example. Or even hitting the 10k channel range.

I am also an admin of a FB group that has 12k members on it so I understand the need to remain impartial on every matter and look at each incident in a new light.

How Many hours a week do you play: Total average hours of playing each week is about 30 hours or a bit more as point out above in my timezone covered.
DPS is much more about your piloting than it is about the skills that you have. If you feel completely stuck on your DPS come visit The Pilot Review Show to see how we can aid you in beating your walls.

How long have you been a DPS Member: around 2 years plus, originally invited directly after an ISA pug run by a fellow player, must've been by an original admin before the league got up and running proper.

What DPS channels are you currently part of: 10,000, 30,000 (have parsed 35000 - waiting invite), have parsed 520 ground but not a member of ground dps yet.

What can you bring to the role:

My main toon is a KDF Engineer and I am Fleet Chief of -The Rising Night- a T5 KDF fleet and currently have 27 million FC in contributions, in which I also have a KDF aligned Romulan Science toon. My Fed alt is chief of -The Rising Dawn- the T4 sister Fed fleet. I have another Fed alt in Fed fleet Section 31 (the original and best!).

I primarily play KDF with my Engineer main toon, I can advise on aspects of Engineer play in both space and ground (my best parses are with this toon - 35000s/520g). My Romulan Science toon flies a plasma specialised stealth torp boat. I can advise on all aspects of torp boat builds and also base vape builds having experimented with these in the past.

I have built and flown a broad spectrum of ships, including many lockbox and Lobi ships, such as Recluse, Astika, Krenn, Sheshar, Mobious, B'rel, Faeht, Monbosh and Orb Weaver, (what can I say, I like the exotics :-) ) I can advise on builds for these and many of the standard ships while levelling.

I can often be found in 10,000 DPS channel running everything from the standard ISA to Colony Invasion (seriously, I got a Colony Invasion to pop once).

I am also a great believer in building a shuttle so mean it has a chain hanging from it (so many players go for hand-me-down equipment it makes me sad), I can drop an Elachi walker solo in about 15 seconds. Happy to advise on shuttle builds (it's worth it when those shuttle events come round ;-) )

How Many hours a week do you play: around 20 hours per week (been playing for around 2 years, Steam has logged total of 2250 hours game time)
